Please read Psalm 1:1-6.
Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Where am I walking, standing, and sitting? I need to daily evaluate the actions and thoughts of my life. Am I living my life as I want to live it or am I surrendered to the Lord's desires for me?
The focus of my life can be seen in what I delight in. Do I delight in the things in the world or do I delight in my God? According to verse 2, I should be delighting in the law of the LORD. That means I'm going to be spending time reading and meditating or pondering on God's Word. It should be a delight, a joy, to read God's Word, the Bible, and spend time in prayer with my heavenly Father. His Words should go with me throughout my day as the center of my thoughts. When His Word is the meditation of my heart, It will guide my every action, response, and decision.
In this hectic world we live in, it's hard to think about anything for very long. There is so much to draw our attention away from God and His Word. It must be our heart's desire and focus to delight in His Word and meditate on it.
Spend a few minutes thanking God for giving you His Word. Take time today to delight in the verses that you not only read but meditated on.
