The Word of God, His saving grace, and ministry to people surround my earliest memories of growing up in a pastor’s home. I came to know the Lord as my personal Savior as a five-year-old. By His loving grace, I have never doubted that He saved me that day as I knelt by my mother’s side in the kitchen of the little parsonage of the Baptist church that my dad pastored.
After graduating from Bob Jones University with a degree in elementary education, I married David Kimmel. For over thirty years, my husband and I have served in various aspects of ministry. My husband is currently the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Plymouth, Wisconsin. We have three wonderful children—two married daughters, a son in college—and two little granddaughters, Ella and Karis, both born in 2007.
Throughout these years, I have been continuously involved in women’s ministries and Christian education. The focus of my ministry has been to women and teenage girls through Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and discipleship ministries. 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” has been my prayer for myself and for those I teach.
When I was asked by Bob Jones Press to put my teaching into written form, I was overwhelmed. My thoughts were flooded with reasons against attempting such a task. Teaching with paper and ink was beyond my ability. At the point of ultimate frustration, I was drawn again to the principles of 2 Peter 3:18. I realized that I must center my writing in the direction that God had given me for my teaching—the understanding of His marvelous grace and the knowledge of Who He is.
In November of 2004, my first women’s Bible study, That I May Know Him, was published. In 2007, A Life Surrendered, a study of the life of the Lord Jesus, and its companion study, A Life Exalted, were released.
My latest book, My Heart Restored (February 2009), is written to women longing for relief from spiritual weariness. I share how to receive refreshing encouragement and renewed joy in Christ when we focus on Him.
My greatest joy is to teach women to study God’s Word to know Him better, claim His promises, and apply His Word to their daily lives. I thank the Lord for the privilege He has given me to share His Word through writing and speaking.
